120+ years of service, innovation, and growth
Founded in 1900 by 10 Los Angeles-area professionals, AAA has continually anticipated the needs of those who count on us and provided unique new services, expanding to offer membership, insurance, travel, discounts, financial, and automotive services to more than 17 million members. All of which means an abundance of new opportunities to learn, grow, and advance throughout our thriving organization.

The first automobile clubs are formed, which later join to become AAA.
1915
Auto Club of St. Louis starts the first Roadside Assistance program.
1941-1945
AAA provides U.S. military maps and guarantees jobs of employees serving in WWII.
1957
AAA launches a travel department as vacation cruises rise in popularity.
1967
AAA Automotive Research Center is launched in Southern California.
1995
Smaller automobile clubs merge to form statewide organizations.
1996
AAA Plus® memberships and AAA Discounts & Rewards® are first offered.
2005
AAA Missouri becomes a multistate organization by acquiring clubs in 4 states.
2012
AAA JourneseSM luxury travel products debut.
2013
Discounts & Rewards® goes digital with a full suite of online retail offers.
2014
AAA Life Insurance creates Express Term for quickly purchasing life insurance online.
2016
AAA Mobile App debuts with a low-gas-price and road-service-tracking functions.
